The coastal Rosemary was one of the first Australian plants found to be edible by early European settlers, along with native spinach. Of course Indigenous Australians knew this thousands of years beforehand! Native to the Eastern coast, this plant can be grown almost anywhere in Victoria and many places in New South Wales. I am in Central Victoria and can simply put this plant in the ground and forget about it. The fun thing about growing native alternatives is the pleasant surprise you get when you discover their uses. Native Rosemary smells very similar to exotic Rosemary but with that native “something extra.” You use it in meat and savoury dishes, just like other Rosemarys. Seeds are still developing. Please be patient and check back regularly for availability.
